It had taken her longer than expected to get up out of bed and get dressed. She had everything packed neatly the night before, not wanting to have to prolong her time staying in her almost crowded room. If it wasn't for the pestering of her mother, Millie was sure that she would have already been traveling down the dusty route at least an hour ago. Or maybe not. It was something about the gleam in her mother's eye that caused her look back over her shoulder continuously, wondering if she should in fact halt her trip in finally receiving a pokemon. The girl had been selfish as of late, not thinking twice as to ask her parent just why she seemed to be worrying so much.
But now, those thoughts were forced to the back of her head as she stepped outside the door, closing it shut behind her and feeling the wary eyes of her mom on her back from the window. If anything, she half expected the woman to walk her right across the street to the Lab as if she was a toddler traveling to the playground. Surprisingly, as she placed one foot in front of the other to start a steady pace, she felt a lot more confident than what she did just a few seconds ago. It amazing how fast things could change.
It hadn't taken long as the once small figure of the lab steadily became larger and larger as she approached it. The rounded windows and the small, yet sturdy frame of the building was almost intimidating. Then again, she did feel awkward walking in to receive a starter pokemon. On her usual daily walks to get in a brief bout of exercise, she normally spotted children half her age entering and leaving, running about excitedly with their new pokemon, regardless of limitations or the given circumstances of whatever challenges they were facing. Hands on her hips, she stood outside the door, inhaling deeply as her fists clenched at her sides.
She could do this. She knew it. She knew it.
Maybe was being dramatic again, maybe she wasn't, but she had caught the eye of a few passerbys who paused to look at the girl clenching onto the straps of her bag as if it were her lifeline. Blinking, she pushed the door open and raising her arm into the air, glanced at the lab assistants in their white coats and a few gadgets before hurriedly announcing, "I need a pokemon!" She paused, "Please."
She smiled quaintly as she stepped in further, hoping that her call for service had at least caught someones attention. If not, then maybe she'd need to be louder?
ooc: so, i got kinda lazy here. hur hur. but anyway, i just wanna roleplay out getting millie her starter. i'd love if she was offered a male poochyena, maybe? thanks in advance~

Professor Elm was working diligently in his lab with the pokémon he was preparing for new trainers. He wasn't the most organized man, and things often got out of hand and leapt ahead of him, but he did try his best. He stroked the smooth skin of a rather rowdy female totodile's maw, and scratched between the ears of a soft and shy male pikachu. Today at least, everything seemed in it's place.
No sooner had he thought this had the silent lab become filled with a young girl's voice and he dropped several stacks of papers. He scratched the back of his head and shrugged, well more filing for the assitants then he supposed. He gathered his composure and walked out to greet the new trainer.
She did look rather young, in the face at least. Long hair, and gleeming eyes. He waved a greeting. "Welcome, my name's Professor Elm. I suppose you're here to start your journey." He said kindly. No matter how unorganized he was seeing a new trainer always lit up his face. "Now of course I have some pokémon for you to chose from, unfortunately we no long have Squitles, Eevees or Vulpixes. I know this may be quite a disapointment, I mean Squirtles are such a popular starter, Eevee with its tree of evolutions and Vulpix with its raw beauty and power, oh but I'm rambling now." He quieted himself for a moment.
"Of course we have everything else, pick your partner, but chose wisely. The pokéballs are on that desk over their, you'll find they all have labels to what gender and species they contain, now if you'll excuse me, there's work to be done."

Just after a few seconds of looking about, particularly at some type of pokemon which was being observed by an assistant, she looked up to catch a glimpse of several sheets of paper scattering about the floor. Millie blinked curiously and was just about to step forward to pick up the papers until instead, she was greeted by the rather disheveled Professor. She tilted her head to the side as she was spoken to and couldn't help but to let her attention waver back and forth from the older man to everything else in the lab.
At the beginning of his esteemed ramble about Eevees and Vulpixes and something else about a Squirt-gun which she didn't quite catch, it was then that she really took into context just what he was going on and on about. No Vulpixes? No Eevees? No Squirt-guns? - No, it's Squirtle, she corrected herself inwardly, giggling momentarily out loud before rocking back on the heels of her feet. It was a disappointment, but she supposed that there would be something else to catch her interest.
As he motioned towards the desk holding the pokeballs, Millie had just readied herself to ask a question until the Professor dismissed himself. The girl huffed with a light stomp of her foot, acting rather childishly before heading over to the steely table, staring at each red and white orb intently.
"Shinx.... Totodile... Charmander..." She read the labels quietly to herself, a finger placed on her chin thoughtfully as she skimmed them over. Well sure, her dad once told her about the use of electric-types and how swift water-types could be. Then, once she recalled exactly what a Charmander was, her thoughts wandered to her father's proud, yet lazy lizard of a Charmeleon. Some reason, thinking about him honestly mad her stir away from choosing the Charmander. It'd be just her luck if she had to raise something so stubborn.
Finally, after looking over the empty spots where Pokemon had already been chosen, the final pokeball in slot had caught her attention. Poochyena. Millie hadn't seen one in person, only on the broadcasting shows during the televised battles and certain series. Her lips parted as she grabbed the pokeball quickly and looked back behind her through the lab. Well, that's all she really had to do here, right? Adjusting the strap on her bag again, she walked towards the door, waving a quick goodbye to one assistant who noted her particular choice.
ooc: lol, i slacked again. but that was really all i needed. :') besides, its kinda dead-end and you don't have to respond. i just needed the practice anyway and um, do this just to make a note of her getting the poochy. thanks, hatterrrr~.
