Obtaining Pokemon!! Obviously, you can either catch pokemon or be given pokemon. I’m sure you already knew that. In terms of wild pokemon, although you are allowed to mention various ones that you might see and such in your posts, you aren’t actually allowed to play them. You can wait for a staff member to drop a wild pokemon in(which they may do at any given point, whether you want them to or not), or you can request one in the request board. You can ask for particular pokemon in the request, or hint at the pokemon you’d like to run in to in the post, however you are not guaranteed to have this pokemon appear. Also, you can’t request a legendary; if you do, you certainly won’t get it.
In terms of being given pokemon, this can be done between players(either a one sided thing or a trade, up to you), during contests, or perhaps even at random! That’s right, the staff are completely allowed to jsut randomly have some random guy/girl walk up to your character and give them a pokemon! They’re even allowed to stick you with a wild pokemon that just wants a trainer, or needs someone to help it heal. Essentially, if the wild pokemon they send your way doesn’t attack, your free to take that as an opportunity to earn yourself an easy addition to your team.

Evolution and Movesets!! Now, I’m far too lazy to come up with ways to do levels and so forth. So that sticks us with a bit of a problem; how do they evolve and learn new moves? Simple. You train and your pokemon will get stronger. Learning new moves and evolving is at your own discretion. We’ll keep an eye, just to make sure you aren’t abusing this freedom, but we generally trust you to keep it realistic. A pokemon you just got from the lab won’t know many moves and it won’t evolve in its first battle, for example. If it does, we’ll be sure to point out how unrealistic this is and make you change it, end of story.

Battling!! Stats are annoying to deal with, so we really don’t require you to use them. Common sense, creativity, and type match ups are usually all you really need to worry about. I mean, if you want to use stats, like HP, go ahead but you don’t have to.
Wild pokemon will be played by staff members, as already mentioned. You can also battle other trainers(ie: other characters or random trainers that a staff member could throw your way upon request). Gym leaders, obviously, are also there to be battled with. If no one is playing the gym leader, then a staff member will play them. However, members are allowed to play gym leaders. However, this will be covered more in the next section.
Essentially, creativity is key. The more creative you are, the more likely you’ll be able to have your moves hit and to dodge attacks. Why? Because, obviously, if you use basic strategies, you’re being predictable. Use something out of the ordinary, how are they going to be able to predict what you’re planning on doing? They can’t. Unpredictability gives you an advantage. You can win without creativity, of course, but it will probably be much more difficult.
Also, each trainer must use the same number of pokemon in a battle, with a maximum of six per trainer. Only one pokemon can battle at a time, with an exception of double battles, which we also allow. In a double battle, a maximum of three pokemon per trainer (therefore, six pokemon per pair). If you’re unsure on this paragraph, just send me a message and I’ll gladly try to explain it better!

Gym Leaders!! Well, years have passed in Johto, so not every gym leader is still around; some have retired from the position, others have passed on the duty to a younger, stronger trainer. I’m not going to name names, because it’s really up to the members who make the gym leaders. The gyms follow the same type preferences, though, so please keep that in mind. Violet City will still have a flying pokemon gym, Blackthorn a dragon gym, etc.
Anyone can make a gym leader. Gym leader applications are the only ones allowed more than three pokemon. In fact, they can have as many as you like! They must agree on the amount of pokemon to use with the trainer challenging them first, of course, with a maximum of six per trainer in a battle.

Contests!! And we finally reach the main part of HMW, excluded character interaction and development of course! We definitely prefer more than one coordinator to challenge at a time, so that more can be dealt with at once, however, because of how we judge, there can be solo challenges.
Essentially, there is only one round. You may add costume to your pokemon, however it will not necessarily help. The key is, again, to be creative. Up to five moves are to be combined into one single performance. You will be judged on that performance, based on two scales: Creativity (1 to 10, 10 being highest) and Performance (also 1 to 10, 10 still being highest). Creativity is, obviously, how unique and creative your performance was. Performance is how well you pulled it off; mistakes, hesitancy, and so on will lower this mark. Each staff will judge differently, but all ribbons are earned based on your total score.
At regular contest halls, you must earn a 12/20 to receive your ribbon. At the league contest, there are much higher expectations of you. You must earn a much higher score of 16/20 to gain the ribbon. Random contests held at the league will all have different requirements and are all judged only after three or more coordinators sign up. If you compete for a ribbon with other people, additional prizes will be given for your placing, in order to encourage competing against other trainers rather than competing solo.

Breeding!! Yes! You are allowed to be a breeder! We have absolutely no problem with it! Breeding generally follows the rules of the games here; you will get the same species as the mother, TMs and HMs all carry down to the hatching pokemon, and egg moves are allowed. If you want to find out more about breeding and such, I suggest looking here, at the wonderful psypokes.com. I love that place xD

Legendaries!! First off, I’d like to mention you can’t catch legendaries. They might show up and help you at random points in time, and they might be added for plot reasons, but no one will be able to catch them. Now, for a list of the legendaries that might show up here: Zapdos Moltres Articuno Mewtwo Mew Celebi Raikou Suicune Entei Lugia Ho-Oh
Others may be added, but for now those are the only legendaries that will potentially make appearances in Johto.

Starting Off!! So, each new character will get you 200 pokedollars(so that you can get them some pokeballs, potions or full heals). Pokedollars are shared between all your characters, so keep that in mind. You can spend them at the Pokemart in the OOC section of the site. Each character will also get five pokeballs, a potion and, obviously, a pokedex. Pokedollars will have to be added to your account by a staff member, however the rest is up to you to keep track of, preferably in the Travel Bags board, so we know you aren't using things you don't actually have!
