NAME»»» Violet Smith

STATUS»»» Goldenrod City's Gym Leader//Co-ordinator
the real important stuff
APPEARANCE»»» Violet is somewhat tall, standing at 5'7" (170 cm), and weighing about 119 lbs (54 kg). She has straight black hair, that is usually let out and it ends to her lower back. In many ways, the woman can be noted to look exactly like her mother, with the only difference being hair length and height--Violet's hair is longer, and she is slightly taller. While she has inherited her father's skills for battling, she has inherited her mother's eye color: hazel. Violet is usually dress in black, with a golden chained necklace, with a blue gem, around her neck. Around her waist is usually a multi-strap belt where she holds her pokeballs.
PERSONALITY»»» Violet is usually quiet when it comes to strangers, preferring to keep to herself rather than bother with people she doesn't know. If someone talks to her, she'll be sure to answer back, but she won't go starting a conversation easily. It's not that she's shy or anything, it's just how she likes to be. However, if she knows the person she's as talkitive as ever, shedding away her quiet composure. When with that person, she also likes to spread gossip about trainers in her gym when she catches them slacking.
Violet is very opinionated, and almost will never see to anyone else's reasonings. She will let one know what she thinks, and won't let them make her think otherwise. She is stubborn in many ways, this just being one of them. When she says something, and it doesn't go her way, she will put up a fight for it.
A time-bomb waiting to go off would be just one of the many words used to express her temper. While she displays herself as quiet and composed, Violet has a very bad temper that can go off at any given minute ever since she was a child. She is known to snap when she's annoyed, sees a pokemon mistreated, or someone insults normal types or her herself. The woman can't stand lazyness towards her trainers, and won't go easy on those who slack off when they're not supposed to--this is known as another factor that will make her snap. When angered, Violet can become unreasonable (her stubborn ways), and sometimes even a little violent. She isn't afraid to give someone a good knock over the head for making her angry.
She also shows herself to be a focused person when in battle. She will turn down no challenge, and make no snide remarks or comments towards her opponent. In fact, the only time it seems impossible to make her angry is during a battle. This is one of the few times that Violet can hold back her temper, and keep her cool.
Ever since she was little and met Vesta as a Meowth, Violet has obtained a love for normal type pokemon. Though she chooses to use dual-types for obvious reason, she prefers full normal type pokemon, her favorite being Vesta. This doesn't stop her from treating all her pokemon like her children. They are all fed before she eats herself, and usually given whatever they want. They are usually pampered, and spoiled. While a little over-protective of the pokemon, she won't hesitate to use them in a battle when a challenger calls.
Violet is known to be blunt with her words. She won't beat around the bush for any reason, and will always tell it like it is straight away. Her bluntness causes her to come off a little meaner than she actually is. She can be kind to an extent, offering to lend a helping hand when someone really needs it.
HISTORY»»» Violet was born as an only child to a single mother, Diane Smith, in Goldenrod city. Her father had died shortly before her birth, thus she never met him. She never worried much about him, besides the basics, either. All she needed was her mother and grandmother, and she was happy. For a time. However, by the time Violet was five, her mother wasn't around as much as she should've been. She was working constantly at the Radio tower during the day, and most of the days from the week she was working at night at the Game Corner. On her days and time off, she slept.
Violet was left with her Grandmother most of the time. It wasn't that she minded, she loved her grandmother, but the little girl couldn't help, but to crave her mother's attention and affection. As time went by, her mother spent less and less time with Violet. It got to the point that it seemed as if she didn't exist in Violet's life anymore, though she continued to leave money for her. Thus, she was raised by her grandmother, and the two were supported financially by Diane.
Growing up, Violet didn't get along well with others her age. She was known by them mostly for her bad temper, and violent ways. It all started when she tried to make a few friends at the age for seven. At the time, she was small for her age, and the subject of bullying. This didn't float over well for the girl. At first, Violet friend doing what her grandmother had always told her: "If someone messes with you, just walk away. Don't get into fights.". She tried walking away, tried ignoring them, and even tried telling on them; all while trying to keep herself under control. Telling on them only seemed to make things worse.
Violet did her best to avoid them, but in the end she snapped. She fought back, using sticks and her fists to beat them back. Though they started to back off, the girl was unable to control her temper much. She snapped at the other kids when they beat her at games, when they wouldn't share their snacks, and things of the like. She even snapped at a boy she had a crush on, just because he didn't return the feelings. She scared them off, resulting in her issue of having no friends.
The girl was alone most of the time, and spent a lot of time indoors with her grandmother. At the age of nine, Violet went to run an errand for her grandmother. She had just dropped off a package to a house when she saw an injured meowth tied to a pole. Releasing it from its rope, she took it home, and began to nurse it back to health. The collar was torn, but the name was still clear as day: Vesta.
Violet couldn't understand why or who would do something to a pokemon. Her grandmother explained that it was likely that Vesta had been abandoned, and tied up because it kept following its trainer. Saddened by the story and smitten with the "cute kitty", the girl asked if she could keep the pokemon as her own. Her grandmother didn't see an issue with allowing the pokemon to stay, and let the girl keep it. Excited, Violet purchased the pokemon a new collar and tag. She finally had her own pokemon!
Through the next few years, Violet grew close to her Meowth and trained it. If she didn't have friends, what was the point of sticking around? She figured she'd challenge the Johto league and burn off her energy there. At the age of thirteen, and with permission, she was allowed to leave Goldenrod city. Trying to start from the beginning, and traveled to Violet city to challenge the gym there. Along the way she caught her first catch: a sentret. From there, she challenged the remaining gyms and catching only pokemon that had normal as one of its types. She challenged the Johto league, and made it to the semi-finals before being defeated. Violet went back to her hometown, having an interest in training at Whitney's gym because of their use of normal type pokemon. By the age of twenty, the gym was passed down to her.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE»»» It was late into the morning when Violet decided it was time to take a break from training. "Alright. That's enough." She called to her pokemon, who were running around. She had planned to work on their speed and stamina by having them run in the morning. She wasn't sure much it would help, but she was up for trying anything that sounded like it would work. She yawned, stretching her arms over her head. The pokemon came to a halt, and rushed to their trainer.
"Good work, Vesta, Skie." Violet said, kneeling down to pet the Persian and Skitty on the head. She sat down two bowls, and poured some nice, cold bottled water. The cat like pokemon started to drink, thirsty as ever. "Time for a break. Wednesday you'll run again." She smiled, petting them on the head again. She thought they were adorable as they quenched their thirst. It'd been hard to keep Skie on track though, as all it wasn't to do was play. She finally resolved to trying a toy to her, and having it hang over his head.
"Wanna take a walk? Get some food?" "Skit!" "Peerrr~" The woman stood, heading for the door. The pokemon followed after her. Well, Skie was chasing the hanging strap from her belt. "Lisa, I'll be back in a little while. If anyone shows up, I have my cell." And with that, she headed through the door and down the streets. Just to find a place where she could pick up something quick~
