NAME»»» Kazu Mori
NICKNAMES»»» Kazu and Kazu only
GENDER»»» Male
AGE»»» Nineteen
BIRTHDAY»»» September 3rd
STATUS»»» Cianwood Gym Leader
the real important stuff
APPEARANCE»»» The first thing anyone notices about Kazu is his hair. The flaming orange is one hundred percent natural, and he's often called "ginger." It usually falls into his eyes, frankly because he doesn't make any attempt to tame it. He lets it fall where it may, but he makes sure that it never looks shaggy. Because of his constant martial arts training with his Pokemon, it's usually dripping with sweat. Facial hair, though? Never in a million years will you see any of it on Kazu's face; he's still fairly young, so occasionally there's stubble, but he'll make sure it's gone before too many people see it. Facial hair is just gross, in Kazu's opinion.
»»» His eyes are a dark brick red color, and that's natural as well. They seem to change color depending on his mood (brighter red when he's angry or excited, and closer to brown if he's sad, etc.). They don't really jump out against his tan skin, but with his orange hair, they're shocking at the very least. Kazu is naturally tan, but he can really get dark because of all the time he spends outside. His tan skin is clear most of the time, if not always. After working out, Kazu always makes sure to take a shower to get off all the sweat and dirt.
»»» As far as Kazu's body goes, he's probably in the best shape of his life. His muscles aren't bulging, but he's still extremely strong, and his body is mainly muscle. He has a six pack, but really, Kazu has a fairly lean body. Standing at a height of six feet even, Kazu's pretty tall, but he's not a walking skyscraper or anything like that. He's at a normal weight for his height, usually around one hundred and seventy pounds, but most of it's muscle. Kazu isn't the type to pig out on food, so without all of his muscle, he'd probably be a twig.
»»» More often than not, Kazu will be wearing a karate outfit, complete with his black belt. If he's not wearing that, he's either wearing loose jeans or loose fitting khaki pants. He's not the type of person to be constrained by his clothes, so his pants always come complete with a belt to hold them up. He'll always wear t-shirts, with or without baggy button-up shirts over them. Kazu has an intense dislike of long sleeves, so he's cut them down to t-shirt length on his button-up shirts. Kazu will never be caught in anything dressy, and ties? Forget them. If Kazu's not barefoot, then he's wearing sneakers and the like.
PERSONALITY»»» First and foremost, Kazu is an extremely proud person. His pride though...it's more arrogance than anything else, though. Kazu likes to believe (half-jokingly) that he's the coolest gym leader around. Far from being modest, Kazu knows that he's strong, he wouldn't be a gym leader if he wasn't, but sometimes (almost all the time) he lets that get to his head.
»»» Kazu is the joking type though, and you'll almost always find a genuine smile on his face. He loves martial arts, and he loves having fun. Although he hates losing, Kazu is the type of person to learn from his mistakes to become even stronger. Because of this, not only has he become a force to be reckoned with, but he's even more cocky than when he first became a gym leader.
»»» More than his strength, Kazu is proud of his control. As a martial artist, that is the one thing he knew he had to master from the beginning. Kazu does have a temper, but he has learned to smother it before it takes over him. Kazu is prone to sudden outbursts though, but before things get too out of hand, he's usually calm or starting to calm down.
»»» Kazu has to have things organized, he can't stand disorganization. That and bad manners. If you disrespect him, then he wont' hold back in battle. He's that type of guy, the type to hold grudges, the guy you don't want on your bad side. If things are disorganized though, Kazu can't focus on anything but trying to fix whatever may be disorganized.
»»» Although Kazu isn't the most intelligent person around, he has his fair share of common sense. He's far from being anything close to dumb, but clever remarks are beyond him. Going back to his temper, he's more likely to punch something and yell than say anything too witty before he gets himself in check. Honesty is very important to Kazu though, so if he's said something during one of his small rampages, he wants to be told so he can learn from his mistakes and apologize -- just like battling.
HISTORY»»» Kazu's always been surrounded by fighting Pokemon. His father trained at the dojo in Saffron City in Kanto, and his family was always good friends with whoever was running the Cianwood City Gym. When Kazu was ten, his father gave him a Riolu (Adonis) as his first Pokemon, and that's what sparked his interest in Pokemon. He'd always just seen them as training partners at the dojo, so the idea that this Riolu would be his friend was a little shocking for him. He'd already become quite skilled in martial arts in the dojo, so his father allowed to go on a journey of his own.
»»» Kazu's journey took him far, and when he had beaten the gym leaders in Kanto, he set off for Hoenn, because, frankly, he didn't really care about the Pokemon League. The Pokemon League always seemed too snobby to Kazu, only accepting those who'd done well enough to get eight badges. Kazu was just proud of his accomplishments, and he wanted to continue that. He quickly won all eight badges there, too, and it was in Hoenn that he caught Rice (then a Torchic) and Flynn (Ralts at the time).
»»» Kazu was getting bored though, so he went to visit his late mother's family in Sinnoh. They saw his talent, gave him a dawn stone for his Kirlia (Flynn), and told him to go to the Johto League. But since he was in Sinnoh, he just had to challenge the Sinnoh League. When he was finished with that, he'd developed quite a reputation in the world of Pokemon. The boy with obvious talent who didn't go on to the Pokemon League. It was different, but then again, it was Kazu.
»»» When he set off for Johto, he called his dad to see how he was doing. His father was so proud of him, Kazu just knew that he had to win eight badges in Johto as well. At this time, he was sixteen, and his team consisted of Lucario (Adonis), Blaziken (Rice), and Gallade (Flynn). Johto was harder for Kazu to navigate though, and when he got his seventh badge, Kazu set out for Cianwood; he had trouble finding his way in Johto, so what should have been a badge already won was the one that would define who he was as a trainer. Rumor had gotten to the Cianwood gym leader of Kazu, and he couldn't wait to battle this trainer.
»»» Kazu won easily, and as he was leaving to go back home to Kanto, the gym leader stopped him and asked if he wanted to take over the gym for him. Kazu had grinned and said yes, who wouldn't have? The first thing he did was call his dad to tell him the news, and Sora Mori was delighted for his son. Who would have known that Kazu would go that far? He sent him the two Tyrogues soon after Kazu's first battle as gym leader, and Kazu trained them into Hitmonchan (Kung) and Hitmonlee (Fu) quickly. He's been a gym leader for three years now.
ROLEPLAY SAMPLEKazu stretched and looked up at the rising sun. Early morning was always the best time to train. He took his team out of his pocket, and they were out of their Pokeballs before Kazu could say, "Time to train!" with a grin on his face.
Training was always Kazu's favorite thing to do, but he started out easy before pushing himself and his team. Two hundred push-ups were their warm-up, but they finished that quickly. Kazu was itching for a trainer to come along to challenge them, but training would always hold a special place in his heart.
All of his Pokemon -- after warm-up -- started their own pre-decided training schedules for the day, and Kazu was sparring with Adonis. Now, to most people, fighting your Pokemon wasn't the most normal thing to do, but for Kazu and Adonis, it was a daily occurrence. It was always interesting for them, for they were so tuned into each other that they knew what the other was going to do, but somehow, Kazu always surprised Adonis, and vice versa. It was always a fun time for the both of them, human against Pokemon, and definitely something that they enjoyed. Kazu felt like he couldn't stop smiling, and when he gave into a defeat to Adonis, he was drenched with sweat but grinning like a mad man.
Times like this were what Kazu loved about being a gym leader. Training with his Pokemon like this made him remember what it was like to be a trainer, but he knew that either way, Pokemon were his life. His team looked exhausted too, it had been almost a full day already, so he returned them to their Pokeballs and sprinted off to take a shower. There was always tomorrow to train too, always tomorrow to have more fun, and maybe, just maybe, a trainer would come.

NAME»»» Adonis
SPECIES»»» Lucario
GENDER»»» Male
PERSONALITY»»» Kazu's Lucario is his first Pokemon, and he's raised him since he was a Riolu. Adonis is fiercely loyal, and has a very bold nature. He's proud of his power, just like Kazu, but has yet to master complete control. Adonis often gets a little too carried away in battle, but he's working on it. Adonis and Kazu are partners, that's for sure.

NAME»»» Rice
SPECIES»»» Blaziken
GENDER»»» Female
PERSONALITY»»» Since Rice is the only female on Kazu's team, she's surrounded by male Pokemon (duh), and as such, is pretty "tomboy-ish." Rice is very powerful though, and very naughty. Her favorite thing to do is come up behind Kazu and scare him when he's entirely focused. Rice knows when it's time to call it quits, but is capable of taking hits, so she usually lasts a long time in battle.

NAME»»» Flynn
SPECIES»»» Gallade
GENDER»»» Male
PERSONALITY»»» Flynn is definitely the calmest of Kazu's Pokemon, though that calm usually means lazy outside of battle. Flynn and Kazu are still a little weary around each other because it took a while for them to really bond, but Flynn hates losing and would back Kazu up to the end. Flynn is the speediest of Kazu's Pokemon, but is the one most likely to be napping off of the battle field other than doing too hard core training.

NAME»»» Kung
SPECIES»»» Hitmonchan
GENDER»»» Male
PERSONALITY»»» When Kazu became a gym leader, his father sent him two Tyrogues, and one evolved into this Hitmonchan. Kung is the quietest of Kazu's Pokemon, and the one to observe his opponent before diving headlong into battle. Kung is also the most persistent of Kazu's Pokemon, and will try to keep going even when he's passed the point of no return, because once Kung's in battle, he's not coming back unless he knows he's tried his hardest.

SPECIES»»» Hitmonlee
GENDER»»» Male
PERSONALITY»»» This Hitmonlee evolved from the other Tyrogue Kazu's dad sent him, and is extremely jolly. When out of his Pokeball and not training or battling, Fu is always goofing off or just having fun. Battling is Fu's favorite thing to do, and is always trying to make training more like a game, though.
