NAME»»» Tyler Ashton Knight
NICKNAMES»»» Ty
GENDER»»» Male
AGE»»» Fifteen
BIRTHDAY»»» August seventh
STATUS»»» Breeder / Co-ordinator
the real important stuff
[/i] Though he’d never voice it aloud.[/size][/blockquote]
APPEARANCE»»» Ty has a pretty average body. He’s about five-foot eight and 120 pounds. His body has basically no muscle to speak of. What muscle he does have is in his abs and chest. And even that isn’t much to speak of. He’s extremely skinny. He has broad shoulders, which don’t match his thin arms and body. Ty has been on the road for a year now, and his body is starting to look it. He is starting to build up muscle, but it doesn’t really show yet. His skin is fair, even though Ty’s in the sun a lot. Ty doesn’t have many scars on his body. What he does have are on his legs and arms. They’re small and aren’t really noticeable, except in certain lights.
Ty’s hair is a lighter brown, but cannot be called dirty blonde. In the front, his hair is longer, and routinely gets into his eyes. His hair in the back is much shorter, and he rarely lets it grow so that it covers his collar. His hair’s really soft, like an Eevee’s fluffy mane. Ty’s eyes are a light green.
Because Ty’s main career in life is a Breeder, he tends to show it through his clothing. He usually wears jeans that aren’t exactly baggy, but aren’t form-fitting either. They usually have a rip in them. The rips are either on his knees or thighs. He doesn’t mind if his jeans are ripped, but if they get too out of hand, he won’t wear them. He usually wears one of his faded leather belts to keep up his pants. Ty will usually wear a faded graphic tee with something or other on it. Usually the shirts have something that Ty finds humorous. His shoes are usually Converse high-tops. If not, then they’re tennis shoes of some sort.
Accessories to his regular outfit are few. But the ones he does wear are usually a stable. One is his fingerless gloves. He doesn’t need them to keep warm, but instead to keep his palms safe when he’s working. His gloves are black with some dark blue lines down the sides opposite his thumb. One thing you won’t usually see on Ty is his anklet. It’s an older leather rope with two beads. One is dark green, the other is a dark blue. The only time you’ll see it is when Ty takes off his pants, since he prefers to not wear shorts.
Ty is also a co-ordinator. Meaning, sometimes he has to get dressy, because everyone knows that appearance is everything in a Contest. His Contest attire is vastly different than his regular attire. He wears a modern suit coat. It has round edges in the front, and the lapel is thinner than most. It is a bit unorthodox, but he looks good in it. The coat is black. He also wears a pair of black dress pants, dress socks, and dress shoes. The shoes border between nice street dress shoes and really dressy tennis shoes. He wears a light green dress shirt, and he’ll usually wear a tie. The tie is black with dark green foliage patterns.
PERSONALITY»»» Ty’s a pretty imaginative person. He likes to just lay back and think of anything. His mind lives in a Lewis carol novel or poem, complete with the jub-jub bird and bandersnatch. Anything can send him into a daydream. He needs to be careful though, to not go into a daydream when he needs to be in this world. Or whatever world his body currently is in. This detracts from his battling ability, since he might blank out during a battle.
Ty’s also a pretty friendly kid. He’ll try to make friends with anyone who looks lost or sad. He’ll try to talk with them, and will normally refuse to acknowledge it if they don’t want to talk back. He loves to be around people, and normally feels odd when he’s not around people. He also has an immunity to awkward silences, and believes there’s no such thing as an awkward silence. And if there’s a silence, he has some convoluted way of breaking it, normally with some far-fetched or made-up story that he makes up on the spot. It also helps that he’s pretty creative, and daydreams. A lot of his random stories are actually some daydream or dream he’s had. The only time he’d ever back off from someone that he thought needed a good, Tyler-esque conversation are those that will cut him or beat him up if he doesn’t stop, but it’ll only deter him in the most extreme occasions.
Ty’s also a klutz. He’d fall and kill someone and himself. Maybe more people, if they’re unlucky. Anyway, the main reason why he is a klutz is because he’s not really observant of his surroundings. This also ties back to his daydreaming. He’ll be thinking of something, and trip over some random chair. So, it’s very odd to find Ty without some cut on his body, and nine times out of ten, he doesn’t know where it came from. This for some people would be seen as bad, for Ty, it’s an average day.
Going back to his imaginative thinking, Ty’s also very creative with art. This helps him in Contests. Art, in any form, keeps his mind on track. In his Contests, Ty will usually rely most on his appeal rounds to keep himself in the running. He’s also an excellent artist. His creativity and artistic eye ties back with his daydreams. He usually gets inspiration from daydreams he’s had.
Ty’s also pretty flamboyant. He’s flamboyancy isn’t just the “Wow, I bet he’s gay,” kind. No, no, no, no, NO! He’s flamboyancy is more of a three hundred foot tall bonfire with a sun’s core condensed and used as the center of the fire. I’m talking you’ll get burned if you’re three feet away from him. Are you getting the idea yet? Along with his flamboyancy, he’s a very stereotypical gay guy. Minus the fact that he thinks sports are boring. There he has a problem, sort of. He mostly watches them to oogle at the guys playing the sport. He always wants to be the center of attention, which is bad for one who’s prone to falling at the worst moments. He also values education, though he’s a 3.0 to 3.5 student, without much trying on his part. So he can get confused when people send him letters congratulating him on his academic successes. He’s pretty sure that they’re just bsing him.
Another one of Ty’s quirks is that he’s kind. It also ties back to his friendliness. He’ll also talk to people out of kindness, though mostly it’s his friendly nature kicking into gear. He’ll do more than just talk to you out of kindness, unless it’s completely necessary for him to finish what he’s doing, like a test, he’ll drop what he’s doing and come help you. He never asks for anything in return. And if you do try to give him something, he’ll deny it over and over. He’ll only accept payment if you trick him into it. Without trickery, there’s no way you can repay Ty for his kindness. He may even get mad at you if you offer payment.
Ty’s also pretty modest. He doesn’t like it when people compliment him, since he can’t take them very well. He doesn’t like it when people compliment him or his work. If you compliment him, he’ll go into some very un-Ty-like shy mode, and stops talking. He doesn’t let people see his work, and if you steal his notebook, he may run after you with some weapon. If you read his work, you’ll have to die. Though he does post it online, he only wants criticism. Criticism he can deal with much, much better than compliments. He also thinks that when someone compliments him, that they’re lying to make him feel better. So, if you compliment him, the first thought to go through his mind is “Do they mean it? Are they just trying to make me feel good about myself?”
HISTORY
»»» It all started many years ago in Pastoria City. Noah Ashton Knight was a breeder just starting to make a name for himself. His friends had met some of friends of one Miss Selena Maria Raine a few weeks ago, and after talking with them, discovered the two were very alike and would probably hit it off. So, they managed to get Selena, who was an aspiring breeder, to come and meet Noah. Like the friends thought, the two hit it off quite well. Actually, that’s an understatement. The two were in love at first sight. It was a beautiful wedding in the cathedral in Veilstone City. The two honeymooned in the Orange Islands. And that’s where Tyler’s story fully comes into play, though it wouldn’t be for a bit.
Selena found out she was pregnant when she realized she was a few days late. She was always on time with her “time of the month”. Worried, she talked to Noah about it. He didn’t understand the importance of it, even though he was a breeder, so she went out and talked to her doctor. There she took a pregnancy test, and found out she was going to be a mother. She was shocked. She hadn’t even gotten her name in the breeding world yet! Noah’s reaction was similar, but he’d been out for two years longer than Selena, and he was already getting his name out there. The two were worried about one thing, though. They didn’t think they were going to be very good parents to their unborn child. Their small house outside Pastoria wasn’t going to keep them for long. So, the two moved to another region; the birthplace of true breeding; Johto. More specifically, Goldenrod City.
The child had been a surprise baby, and to the couple seemed like he or she was going to mess with them at any given chance. He was a honeymoon surprise, and you couldn’t think it’d be any worse? Well, he was four weeks early to boot. It happened on August 7, a whole month before his original due date. Selena was outside with a new mother Ninetails, when she suddenly felt her water broke. Instead of panicking, she got into her car, called her husband and family giving them the news. Noah was freaking out, mostly because of the looming “father” title that would be bestowed on him in hours. The couple got to the Pokemon Center, and Selena was instantly surrounded by maternity nurses.
After hour agonizing hours, the doctors came to a startling discovery. The reason why her labor hadn’t gotten any progress was because the little baby was upside-down! And to top it off, his heartbeat had started to slow. Everyone dropped what they were doing and rushed her to surgery for a C-section, which was the only option to saving the baby.
As Selena was allowed to hold her first-born, she was awed by the life she and her husband had created. Selena had long ago become stubborn on the name Tyler if the baby was a guy. For a middle name, Selena also demanded it be the same as Noah’s. He gave in, and so Tyler Ashton Knight was welcomed into the real world outside his mommy’s tummy.
Tyler’s poor parents had a crazy child on their hands. It seemed like he was some ADHD baby. A few weeks into life, he was holding out his hands, trying to get his parents to have him stand on his feet. At first they assumed that this was natural baby behavior. Boy, were they ever wrong. Their usual routine now had to revolve around Tyler. Tyler had a habit of taking long naps during the day, occasionally waking up for maybe half an hour of energy and eating, and go back to bed. Nights were a different matter. It seemed for the couple that their baby was saving up energy for the night. For Selena, she had to follow Tyler’s night owl ways. She took advantage of his daily naps for her own naps, and stayed awake at night. Noah, who didn’t have to deal with Tyler as much, thought it was funny. Selena would say otherwise. Eventually, though, she had to go back to work. It was a lot of work keeping up the barn. When Tyler was about two months old, she was able to get back to helping Noah, and her sister Olivia took charge of Tyler while his momma was at work.
The rest of Tyler’s infancy went by pretty smoothly after Olivia took charge. He stopped wanting to stand after a few weeks, and had one other oddity about him. He never really crawled. Instead, he rolled. No joke. He was like a tornado around the house. His parents had to get him a large play pen to keep him in one place if they wanted some peace of mind. Olivia became like a second-mother to Tyler. She was never just his aunt. Whenever Selena and Noah took a trip, Olivia was the first to be asked or volunteer to watch Tyler.
Unlike his pregnancy and infancy, Tyler was a pretty average child. He was always good to everyone, and loved to play pretend. His parents weren’t that worried when they realized that he never had that many friends that were guys. Most of his friends were girls. His dad joked that it would help him later in life, and Selena just though it was adorable.
Growing up, he had one “gal pal” that he never was without; Emily Underwood. They were closer than two peas in a pod. They did everything together. Like their children, their parents became best of friends. It also helped that their parents had similar interests. Emily’s mom was a breeder, and her dad was a co-ordinator. Basically, the two were joined at the hip. One was always at the other’s house. Their favorite game was playing family with the newly hatched pokemon at their parent’s Barn. Their parents also loved the game, since it acclimated the new pokemon to people.
When the two were little, their parents started to teach them about their lines of work. Tyler was interested in what his parents did, but soon it was apparent that Emily’s dad’s work also caught his eye. He started to accompany Emily and her dad to his Contests, and started to also learn from what he saw.
Emily and Tyler’s education in pokemon continued until they were fourteen. That’s when their parents allowed them to breed their own pokemon from their parent’s stock. Emily chose a male Jigglypuff to cross with a female Clefairy. Tyler chose a male Delcatty and a female Eevee. While Emily went for one egg move, Tyler could think of anything, and he went for power instead.
Their paths stayed together for a long time, even though Emily went down the path of a breeder-trainer and Tyler became a breeder-co-ordinator. They stayed together. It changed when Emily went to Blackthorn City to challenge the gym leader. Tyler stayed home, waiting for his friend to come back. That’s when he heard the news. Emily had become a victim of the disappearance of trainers.
Now, a year later, Tyler is still training. He’s been trying to work on his battle skills. He hasn’t been in a Contest challenge for a long, long time. Now he’s getting back into the swing of things with nothing under his belt yet. He’s vowed to become the strongest breeder ever and get Emily and the rest of the trainers gone missing.
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE
»»» A truck door was slammed behind an average-size teenager. As he waved good-bye to the driver, his dad, he looked at the horizon. Violet City’s traditional building style could be seen over the trees. Tyler took in a deep breath, and released it. His dad had been nice enough to drive him to Violet City, but now it was up to him. He took out a Pokeball, and it grew in his hand. He released the pokemon it contained. A Leafeon appeared when the red laser faded. It stretched, and already its presence was noticeable. The air seemed fresh, clean. Tyler smiled. “Victor, are you ready?” he asked the feline pokemon.
Victor looked back at Tyler. It gave a small purr, and swung his head toward the city. He was trying to impress Tyler, but inside, Victor was reeling with fear. What if he messed up? There were so many things that could go wrong. And the city would have people. Oh no. People. Victor didn’t do well with those. He hoped they wouldn’t be in the city for long. The less time he was with people, the better. Maybe Tyler would just put him back in his Pokeball before they got to the city. Storm would be better. She was a city pokemon. Victor was a stay-at-home type.
Tyler was wearing his favorite pair of jeans. They were one of his less baggy pairs, and it only had one tear in it. It was a small rip on his lower thigh. The pants were dark blue with the front being a light wash. His shirt was a faded light green tee with a Leafeon laying on the ground. The picture was faded, but it didn’t ruin the picture. His shoes were black tennis shoes. His hair was in its usual style; messy. Today he was also wearing a thin green hoodie.
Tyler gently put down his backpack. He fished out something interesting. A pokemon egg. His parents were generous enough to let him do one more breeding experiment. It was his final test as a breeder before they’d let him get his license, which was in the front pocket of his backpack. His task was to breed in two moves from different parents to a pokemon. His final product was an egg with Budew that should know Cotton Spore and Synthesis. He was proud of his efforts, and he was excited to welcome the baby into the world.
As he set the egg on the ground for a minute, he put back on his backpack. He picked the egg back up and set it into his arms. He looked down at Victor. “Are ya ready, pal?” he asked. Victor put on a brave face, and gave the first step towards Violet City and their first Contest.
**I'm sorry for the suckishness and shortness of this post. I have trouble with RP Samples. I promise I'll have longer posts with a better quality later.**
