NICKNAMES»»» Often called Yu
GENDER»»» Female

the real important stuff
APPEARANCE»»» Yumi stands roughly 5' 4"(163 cm) and weighs about 108 lbs (49 kg), making her a little small for her age. She is notable for a similar appearance to her twin brother, though not exact. While her eyes are green, her hair is brown in color, and a few shades darker than Suichi's. While it stretches to just a few inches under her rear, she likes to keep it out with a headband, bandana, or something of the sort in it. In addition to that, she keeps a long, teal colored peice with a feather attached to the hair infront of her right ear. With a love for jewelry (be it real or costume), and accessories, she is usually adorned with rings, beaded bracelets, and earrings--especially if they sparkle or shine. At times, she'll even put beads in her hair. Yumi is usually dressed in, what she considers to be comfortable: jeans, sneakers, a shirt, and a casual jacket or sweater. She use just about any color with her favorite: teal. Yumi isn't one for make up, but she does like to use lipgloss.
PERSONALITY»»» Definitely the more bubbly of the twins, she's usually smiling or grinning. At first glance, Yumi is your typical klutz, talkitive, and hyper girl. She's clumpsy, and silly, which often result in her making a fool of herself. Which, in fact, doesn't bother her at all. She fully embraces it, and will take responsibility for any mess she makes. She'll even hope it gives others a good laugh. She loves nothing more than to be happy, to see others happy, and to live. She's cheerful, prefering to only see the bright and positive side of things. She's very childish in behaviour and personality. She'll take her childishness to the next level, often changing her voice to sound like that of a child, and making up words. Yumi has a small habit of acting like everyone's little sister, or at least, trying to.
She has always been extremely boisterous and her years living has not blunted her 'need' for having fun. She loves to travel and explore unknown places. She is mostly happy-go-lucky even when battling. She generally doesn't have a temper, and over looks things easily. At other times, it blows right over her head. However, if pushed, she can sometimes have a fiery temper and always fights her corner, usually resulting in one of her comical fits of rage. Aside from this, Yumi is generally an outgoing, and outspoken person. She's not afraid to speak her mind or tell someone that they're wrong when they are. She's generally sweet, offering to go out of her way to help others. She'll shar food, and sometimes can be a little TOO trusting of people. This lands her in trouble often. She can be dense to an extent, allowing things to blow right over without giving it much thought or allowing it to process in her brain.
Another side to her tends to take over from time to time--especially when compared to family. She can become obssessively bent on proving that she's a good trainer; that she can compete against her older siblings. Especially since she lost a match and was sent home by one of them. This side of her can also reach out to other trainers or co-ordinators, where she'll size them up and challenge them--even if she full blown knows she's way over her head. Due to many trainers disappearing, Yumi has become a little paraniod in her travels; often wary of others and unusual things. She has become scared to the point she has considered becoming a co-ordinator, making her curious to contests and those that can teach her in hopes of never getting a target on her back.
From time to time, Yumi can be a little boy crazed if she sees someone that catches her interest. She'll bother him to no extent, doing whatever she can to impress him. She'll even go as far as to do just about anything he wants. These crushes, however, usually don't last long because she gets distracted by something else. That, or Suichi knocks some sense into the poor girl.
HISTORY»»» Yumi was born into a somewhat big family, in Olivine City, with already five older siblings--three older brothers and two older sisters. She was also born roughly seven minutes after Suichi as a set of fraternal twins. The Kururugi family wasn't a rich family, but they weren't exactly poor either. They made enough money to keep their buisness intact, and to take care of themselves. They made their living by running a bed and breakfast for trainers and their pokemon with a twist. Battles were welcomed for those who wished to train. Yumi's mother was an good battler, and her grandmother was an excellent cook and they took care of the trainers personally. While her father was a great breeder took care of the pokemon, their grandfather handled all of the finances.
Yumi had a pretty normal childhood, spending most of her time with her mother and twin and helping out around the house. She was attached to her mother, pokemon, and the thought of battling. Suichi had a different out-take on pokemon, and spent time with their father. When she wasn't with her mother, she was with her twin. Naturally, she grew to close to Suichi, with small fights here and there. The two were often found together, and were hardly seperated.
While Yumi grew close to her mother and twin, she gained a heated rivalry with her sister Sara, and her brother Ryou. All three would constantly compete to be first--first to finish their chores, first to finish their food, and other things of that nature. By the time Yumi by eight, her mother began to teach her, Ryou, and Sara the basics of battling. Suichi and the others got lessons from their father about pokemon breeding. At age nine, Mrs Kururugi's Umbreon and Jolteon had a couple of eggs. The first one was given to Suichi, and the second one to Yumi. They, of course, later hated into eevee. Yumi gave hers the nickname Smoothie, after her favorite treat: Strawberry and banana smoothies.
Each Kururugi born was expected to take over the buisness, but each one went off to become a trainer, breeder, or co-ordinator once they were roughly ten to thirteen. Yumi herself left at age tweleve with Suichi and their eevee. Sara and Ryou had left a couple of months earlier, thus Yumi decided (and forced) Suichi to go with her to the Kanto region once she learned of Sara's first victory in a Johto gym. Vermilion City is where she had her starting point, and the twins split to travel in different directions. Yumi challenged the gym leader almost instantly, and, of course, had her first loss. Her eevee was not experienced or strong enough to take on Raichu. She decided travel a bit more to train, catch more pokemon before challenging any gym. Yumi caught her first pokemon, a pidgey, just outside of the city.
With just an Eevee and Pidgey, Yumi traveled through Kanto to challenge gyms, and to meet other people. She won battles, but constantly lost her gym battles. She earned her first and only badge in Celadon City, where her Pidgey evolved into a Pidgeotto, before turning to make her way back to Vermilion City for a rematch. It was there that she ran into Ryou, who challenged her to a match with high stakes. The one to lose, reguardless of badges, had to return home.
Yumi only had two pokemon, while he had four. She lost, and as a part of the agreement, accepted the boat's ticket back to Olivine City. She was welcomed home, where she started to help with the buisness and around the house once more. Suichi was already there, having lost to another sibling. Mrs. Kururugi instantly took a liking to Pidgeotto, and somewhat "stole" it from Yumi. Yumi helped her mother with the battles, and Suichi helped their father. During the years, Yumi and Suichi were given fire and water stones to change their eevees if they wished. One day, however, the Kururugi family stopped getting updates about Sara, and Ryou. They, ones who were still trying to make it as trainers had gone missing. Police couldn't find them, no one saw them. It was like they vanished into thin air.
Yumi decided she would travel Johto in search of her siblings. Though they got on her nerves, and she couldn't stand them much, her mother was a wreak knowing that her children were no where to be found. She was given a second eevee egg, this time from her father. Thus Yumi set out with Suichi to find her missing siblings, and perhaps the other trainers as well. She left her Pidgeotto with her mother, in hopes that the pokemon would help.
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE»»» "Ah! Hang in there, Pidgeotto!" She called, brows down in worry. Worry towards losing, and for her beloved bird. The Pidgeotto tried to get his feet, but just couldn't make it back up. It fell down onto its side, exhausted. "Ah! Pidgeotto, return!" She called, holding its pokeball out. "You did your best, baby, thanks..." She muttered lowly, clicking it to her strap and reaching for another. What could she use against her older sister's Raichu?
The crowd roared in anticipation of the match. "This is quite a match up folks! Miss Yumi Kururugi is down to her last pokemon! What will she choose?" The announcer's voice beamed through the mircophone, and echoed throughout the stadium. Yumi picked another pokeball from her strap without hesitation, kissed it, and threw it. "Let's go, Smoothie!" The older sister gave a haughty laugh, "Your flareon? You're too obvious, baby sister... just like Suichi!"
"And she has chosen a flareon! Let the match, begin!" "Raichu, start off with a thunderbolt!" "Rai...!" Raichu's cheeks sparked, before the electric attack was released. Yumi had to think quick; she knew how powerful a Raichu could be... especially her sister's. "Quick, Smoothie, dig!" "Flare!" The fire eeveelution swifty dug into the dirt of the ground, disappearing from sight...
"Eevee... Eve..." Leo cooed his name softly, poking at the cheek of his master. Yumi groaned in response, trying to swat the eevee away. He didn't give up, this time swiping back at her hand. She sat up with a yawn, unable to stay asleep with the pokemon bothering her. Was she dreaming? No way! She was going to beat one of her older siblings once and for all..."What's the matter Leo?" She asked with a yawn, rubbing her eyes. Nope. It had to have been a dream... she didn't have a Pidgeotto with her anymore. She had left it home, with her mom. She blinked a few times when she didn't hear a certain voice. It was a quiet, peaceful, and cool morning... at least it was until...
"SUICHI!!"
She shrieked, scaring Leo into hiding behind Smoothie, the flareon. He left her... AGAIN?! UGH! She was going to give him a peice of her mind! Or so she figured as she began to stuff everything back into her travel bag. She mumbled to herself in anger, unable to help herself. "Smoothie, return." She clipped her pokeball to the strap on her waist, and swung her bag over her shoulder with ease. Leo patted his way ahead, only going so far to wait for his master. He was pleased, that was for sure; today was his day to be out of the pokeball and walk.
"Suusssshhhiiii!" Yumi wailed as she walked through the forest. Why did he have tease her like this? By letting her oversleep and leaving camp for the next city? Not that she didn't expect this to happen after their argument the night before. Well... at least the next city was only a 20 minute or so walk.
